  There are several types of T helper immune cells, and TH1 and TH2 are two important ones. They’re called “helper” cells because they activate other immune cells by releasing chemicals called cytokines. In a healthy immune system, TH1 and TH2 balance each other. But in an imbalanced immune system, overactive TH2 cells release cytokines in response to seasonal changes in the environment.⁶
